Paul Alan Root, age 56 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. Paul was born on December 11, 1964 in Grand Rapids and later moved to the Big Rapids area. Paul had worked as a sales clerk at Tobacco Outfitters in Big Rapids for several years and had enjoyed golf and kayaking. Paul is survived by his son, Mekail (Krystal Newhouse) Root of White Cloud; his granddaughter, Karleigh Root of White Cloud; his brothers, Doug (Mary) Root of Gun Lake; Robert Root of Morley; his sister, Kathy Root of Texas; several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and private services will be held in the summer of 2021 with interment in the Georgetown Cemetery in Hudsonville.
