Obituary

Slater, Paul W. Paul W. Slater, age 73 of Twin Lake, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at his home following a short illness with brain cancer. Paul was born on June 23, 1932 in Holton to John and Mary Slater and later met and married Marian Walsworth on November 10, 1956. Paul has been a lifelong resident of the Twin Lake area where he was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick and had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Muskegon County Road Commission for 39 years until his retirement in 1995. Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Era. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marian of Twin Lake; his daughters, Jill Stuthard of Muskegon; Paula Morris of Whitehall; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jeffrey, and Jonathan Stuthard; Nicole and Jared Morris; his brothers and sisters, Joseph (Grace) Slater of Holton; Bernard Slater of Holton; Mary Monette of Brunswick; Helen (Frank) Sohasky of Muskegon; Martha (Harold) Saxton of Waterford; brothers-in-law, Keith (Ruth) Walsworth of Rothbury; Gerald (Karen) Walsworth of Bellaire, MI; Dale (Judy) Walsworth of Hesperia; many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and by 4 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 from the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick with Rev. Father Mike Alber presiding with interment in the St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery. Friends may consider the Hackley Visiting Nurses Hospice or St. Michaels Catholic Church for memorial contributions in memory of Paul.
