Obituary

Paul G. VanderMey, age 78 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the St. Marys Hospital in Grand Rapids following a lingering illness. Paul was born on February 16, 1937 near Greenville to Clarence and Lila A. (Scofield) VanderMey. Paul graduated from Rockford High School in 1956 where he had played Varsity Football for 3 years and after graduation, served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Pau later married Katherine Marie Goyings on September 24, 1960 in White Cloud. Katherine preceded him in death on April 21, 2009. Paul had been maintenance supervisor at Wolverine Worldwide for 15 years and later worked at Reynolds Aluminum. He became a self employed general contractor in 1975, until his retirement. Paul has been a longtime resident of the White Cloud area where he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, had built several homes through the years and helped community resident with home repairs. Paul was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church where he had been instrumental in the construction of the new sanctuary. Paul is survived by his children, Kenneth VanderMey of White Cloud; Tina (Tony) DeKievit of Jenison; his grandchildren, Megan DeKievit and Aaron DeKievit; his brothers, Marvin (Sharon) VanderMey of Newaygo; Walt VanderMey of Newberry. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyle and Robert VanderMey. VISITATION : Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 3-6pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel and 1 hour prior to the funeral services. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church 1125 E Newell Street. INTERMENT : White Cloud Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Alzheimers Association
