Paul A. Wright Sr., age 75 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2001 at the Spectrum Health Services-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born on May 8, 1926 in Bradley, Michigan to John Logan and Ada Belle (Norton) Wright and married his wife Evelyn on July 14, 1946 in Newaygo. Evelyn preceded him in death in 1966. Paul had been a truck driver for Gilliland Transfer for 27 years retiring in 1985. He had been a member of the Teamsters Union from 1947-1987 and had been active in a seniors golf league and bowling league. He was also a member of the Newaygo United Church of Christ. He is survived by his children, Paul N. (Sharon) Wright of Newaygo; Rick Wright of Grand Rapids; Rosemary Wright of Newaygo; Polly Wright of Newaygo; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Joseph T. (Joann) Wright of Jenison; sister-in-law, Marion Wright of Wayland; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Penny Wright Hanson in 1983; Linda Wright Anderson in 1987; sister, Marjie Deeks and brother, Logan Wright. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1, 2001 from the Newaygo United Church of Christ with Rev. David Wygams presiding with interment in the Newaygo Cemetery.
