Betty Jacobus, age 84, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, at Spectrum Health Services – Gerber Memorial. Betty was born on August 12, 1931, in Wilmington, Massachusetts to Augustus Venter and Pauline Elizabeth (Todas) Blaisdell and married Duane L. Jacobus on November 27, 1949 in Wilmington. Duane preceded her in death on August 30, 2014. Betty had worked for Dean Transportation as a school bus driver for special needs children. Betty attended various Christian Churches in the area. Betty is survived by her children, Michael Duane (Pam) Jacobus of Ontonagon and Susan R. (Fred) Rice of Riverview, Florida; her grandchildren, Father Michael John Jacobus, Brandi Rice (Jordan) Maniscalco, and Jackie Sue (Scott) Heiser; great grandchildren, Bennett Heiser and Julianna Maniscalco; and sister, Joan Heffron of New Jersey. She was preceded by her brothers, Augustus V. Blaisdell Jr. and Robert E. Blaisdell. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel (7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI) with Pastor Lucky Fulton of the Amazing Grace Acres Church officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service starting at 11 AM. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the Bitely Community Church.
