Obituary

Pauline T. (Maike) Brinks, age 86 of White Cloud, went into the arms of her savior on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at The Brook of Newaygo. Pauline was born on October 23, 1934 in Montrose, Michigan to Joseph and Katherine (Kuchar) Vasko. Pauline married Thomas Maike on April 24, 1954 in Chesaning, Michigan and Thomas preceded her in death. While driving for the Newaygo County Commission on Aging, Pauline met James "Jim" Brinks and they were married on July 21, 2007 at Woodville Community Church. Jim preceded her in death on September 29, 2015. Pauline was an avid worker throughout her lifetime. Starting at an early age on the family farm driving and picking strawberries. At the age of 9 she began babysitting until she turned 16, at which time she landed her first job at Kresge's Dime Store. She continued to work various jobs including waitressing, cooking at restaurants, working in factories, and making wedding cakes. At the age of 40, she went back to school for medical training which provided her a job as the Medicaid field testing and lab technician for the Newaygo County Health Department until 1980 when she retired. Pauline had a wonderful life and God was and God remained the center of her life throughout her journey. Pauline is survived by her 13 children, Tom (Alice – deceased) Maike of White Cloud; Pam (Bill) Bender of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania; Luann (Duane) Cruzan of White Cloud; Theresa (Barry) LaCourse of Gobles, Michigan; John (Rose Marie - deceased) Maike of Vacaville, California; Mike (Cyndi) Maike of Fremont; Gary (Deanna) Maike of Farmington Hills; Mary (Gordon) Lubbers of Newaygo; Christine (Dale) Simmons of Augusta, Georgia; Joe (Danielle) Maike of Grand Rapids; Sally (Herb) Waldroup of Arden, North Carolina; Lisa (Jeff) Burkhardt of Lansing; Greg (Tina McCann) Maike of Owosso, Michigan; step sons, Jim (Carole) Brinks of Wyoming, Michigan; Dan (Donna) Brinks of Kentwood, Michigan; Jack (Connie) Brinks of Bulverde, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several step grand and great grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Lamb of Sterling Heights. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph; and sisters, Marian Ammon, Frances Silverthorn, Jeannette Vasko.
