Pearl M. Harnden, age 85 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 at the Holland Hospital following a short illness. Pearl was born on Sept. 22, 1925 in Trent, MI to Arthur W. and Julia (Stark) Brisbin and married Clare Harnden on Aug. 14, 1949 in Casnovia. Clare preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2004. Pearl graduated from Western Michigan University with a teaching degree and taught school in several southwest Michigan school districts before she moved to the Fremont area in 1955 where she taught in the Fremont School District until her retirement in 1986. Pearl was a member of the MEA, NEA, Fremont Education Assc., MARSP. Pearl loved gardening and reading throughout her entire life and she and Clare traveled throughout their marriage extensively throughout the United States and many foreign countries. In her retirement years, besides traveling, Pearl enjoyed participating in the senior aerobics with the Fremont Community School program, mentoring in the school, birdwatching and had been active in the Fremont Garden Club. Pearl was an active member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where she participated in various Circles in the church. SURVIVORS : daughter, Shelley (Craig) Saylor; grandchildren, Nicole Saylor; Travis Saylor; great grandchildren, Madison and Grace all of Holland; her brother, Donald A. (Joyce) Brisbin of Ravenna; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Doane. VISITATION : Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL MEMORIAL SERVICES : Thursday at 11am at the Fremont United Methodist Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont United Methodist Church or Fremont Area District Library. INTERMENT : Fremont United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
