Penelope Constance (Manolopaulos) DeGier age 63, of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2019. Penelope was born on November 1, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Efthmia (Betras)and Cosdenous Manolopaulos. She was a homemaker for over 40 years as she cared for her large family of children and grandchildren. Penelope enjoyed hiking, kayaking, reading, and all things active and outdoor. She had a life-long love affair with Bob Dylan. She was married to John M. DeGier in August 1989. Penelope is survived by her children, Sara (Aaron) Baylis of Ionia; Anthony (Mandy) Hoover of Crestview, Florida; Jamie (Mark) Sanborn of Fremont; Laura Hoover (Josh Angoli) of Stanton; and Angela (John ) Wittkowski, of Rockford; her grandchildren, Avery and Addison Baylis; Chrystian Westfall, Emma and Ava Hoover; Adam Hoover, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Sanborn; Gabriel Angoli; Scarlett Lockyear; and Jacob Sundstrom. She is also survived by her mother, Efthmia Coburn; 6 sisters: Patti (Jim) Schultz; Karen Hingston; Kristy Coburn; Kim (George) Suchy; Pam (Alan) Barton; and Diane; one brother, Deano Manos; along with 25+ nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Penelope is preceded in death by her father, Cosdenous Manolopaulos; step-father, Ronald Coburn; step-mother, Joyce Manos; her sister, Dena Manos; and step-daughter, Cindy Sundstrom (DeGier).
