Smolinski, Philip Joseph Philip Joseph Smolinski, age 82 of Brohman and Eastpointe, Michigan, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at his daughters home in Eastpointe following a lingering illness. Philip was born on February 27, 1925 in Detroit to Teofil and Helen (Pietrosiewicz) Smolinski and later married Frances Scallise on February 7, 1948 in Detroit. Philip started work with the Ford Motor Company at the age of 15 where he attended the Henry Ford Technical School and later became a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1977. After retirement, Philip and Frances moved to the Brohman area from Eastpointe, Michigan where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the Henry Ford Trade School Alumni Association. Philip also served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He is survived by his children, Debra Salada of Big Rapids; Philip L. (Marsha) Smolinski of Warren, Michigan; Robin (Mark) Klott of Eastpointe, Michigan; his grandchildren, Jackie, Kelly, Jessica (Kevin), Kris (Kat), Stacey, Mark (Andi); his great grandchildren, Erik, Taylor, Mackenzie, Trey, Elliot, Carter, and 2 soon to be born great grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Rita Maxson of Baldwin; Millie Farnsworth of Grand Rapids; Delores (Joe) Roy of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; Bob (Joy) Smolinski of Mt. Clemens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances on April 5, 1977 and by his brother, Norbert Pye Smolinski. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 27, 2007 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. Father Tony Russo presiding and military rites given by the Croton American Legion, Post #381 and interment in the Merrill Township Cemetery in Brohman. Friends may consider the Newaygo County Commission on Aging or Hospice of Michigan for memorial contributions in memory of Philip.
