Phillip J. "Lefty" McGahan Sr., age 74, of Hesperia passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Hesperia with his family by his side. Phillip was born on February 25, 1947, in Fremont to Russell and Alma (Bird) McGahan and married Deloris Faye Kayler on July 11, 1966, in Hesperia. He had worked in the shipping department at Shaw Walker in Muskegon until his retirement and proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Hesperia American Legion Post #411, White Cloud Eagles, and was caretaker of the TTCM in Hesperia. Phillip enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, wood working, cards, wintering in Florida with Deloris, and his famous fish fry.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deloris; children, Phillip J. (Mari Ann) McGahan of Hesperia and Michelle Lynne (Joseph) Annis of Hesperia; grandchildren, Renae (Tyler) DeLonge, Kurt McGahan, Brooke McGahan, Natalie McGahan, Daniel McGahan, Mitchell McGahan, Erika (Dave) Frens, Katelyn (Brent) Torrey, Zachary Annis, Anthony Thompson, and Mason Flanery; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Alaina, Charlie, Shayna, Abbi, Landyn, Cohen, Lilly Malakai, Harlee, Jameson, Kinsley, and Brelyn; brothers and sisters, Andy (Joy) McGahan, Dale (Kathy) McGahan, Larry (Denise) McGahan, Ella (Chuck) DeLora, Nancy (Roger) Faulkner, Peggy (Doug) Campbell and Russell (Sandy) McGahan; sister and brother-in-laws, Rosemary (Duane) Baldwin and Doris (Robert) Robbins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his sister, Carol Post; sister-in-laws, Sue McGahan and Bonnie Bromley; and his beloved dog, Abby.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, April 16, 2021, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont from 5 – 8 PM. A limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home at one time and friends will need to rotate in and out with face coverings being required. Military honors, services, and fellowship will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, at the Hesperia American Legion and will be open to the public to attend.
