Mendham, Phyllis E. Phyllis E. Mendham, age 78 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at her home. Phyllis was born on June 4, 1928 in Summitville, Indiana to George and Bernice (Hinton) Lindsey. Phyllis grew up and attended school in Summitville until she entered college and later graduated from Ball Sate University in Muncie, Indiana where she received her Nursing Degree. She soon moved to the Fremont area after graduation and started work as a registered nurse at Gerber Memorial Hospital and also worked for Dr. Klein in Fremont. She had worked in the O.B. department and later retired as the night supervisor in the early 1990s after over 40 years of service at the hospital. She had been active in the low vision support group, was a member of the Town & Country Study Group, and a member of the local Bridge Club. She enjoyed most sports and has been an avid Detroit Tigers fan through the years. She is survived by her children, Jane Boone of Fremont; Steven (Karen) Mendham of Saginaw; Alvin (Sandy) Mendham Jr. of Holton; her mother, Bernice Lindsey of Fremont; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her sister, Joyce (Charles) Bourdon of Whitehall; Joe (Loralyn) Lindsey of Kokomo, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, George Lindsey. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery.
