Yeakey, Phyllis Phyllis (Hoerner) Yeakey, age 82, of Fremont passed away Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont. Phyllis was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan September 27, 1917, to Jacob and Rosa Hoerner. She graduated from Ottawa High School and Davenport College, then worked as a District Clerk for the Bell System. She married Frederick Chapman Yeakey in 1944; they had one child in 1949. She moved to Fremont in 1954 when her husband was promoted within Gerber Products, and lived the rest of her life there. She was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, the Ramshorn Country Club, and the Lambs, and did extensive volunteer secretarial work for the American Cancer Society from 1972 (when her husband died of cancer) to 1994. She is survived by her loving daughter Patricia Kline of Portland, Oregon; a nephew; and nieces. Services were held Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. Remembrances are suggested to the Alzheimers Association.
