Raul David "Dave" Gomez, age 90 of Hesperia, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at his home. Dave was born on May 13, 1932 in Rosebush, Michigan to Inocencio and Martha (Garcia) Gomez. Dave was drafted in the United States Army where he served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge and returned to the area and moved to Hesperia in 1950. Dave met and later married Helen Bernice (Ford) Dutcher and Helen preceded him in death on October 8, 2003. Dave had worked at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont for over 40 years retiring as a jeep driver in the kitchen department. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia. Dave had owned and operated his own music store, Dave's Music in Fremont for several years, sang in his own band and sang at church, many weddings and at the local nursing homes in the area over the years. Dave was a longtime member of the Hesperia American Legion where he had served as Commander and had been the Honor Guard Chaplain for many years. Dave's life revolved around music, family and church. Dave is survived by his loving partner, Carol Weaver of Hesperia; his daughters, Mary (Tom) Sturtevant of Hesperia; Paula (Russ) Dykman of Fremont; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and even some great great great grandchildren; step daughters, Wilma Yvonne Thompson of Hesperia; Dorothy Gomez of Twin Lake; his sister, Mary H. Patricio of Muskegon; as well as many special people in his life throughout the years. Dave was preceded in death by his children, William "Butch" Dutcher, Maurice Dutcher, John Dutcher, Verna Wilson, Shirley Dietz, Esther Thompson, Judy Lagerkvist; 14 brothers and sisters.
