Ray Amos Butterfield, age 98 of Fremont and formerly of Huntington Woods, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was born on July 26, 1902 in Akron , Michigan, to Ruben and Edith (Fox) Butterfield. Ray was a teacher in Detroit having received his master degree from Wayne State University. He was married to Mildred Bennett on June 23, 1928 and they had been married for over 72 years. Survivors include one daughter Phyllis (Ray) Jansma of Fremont, son James Butterfield of Charlotte, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in October of this year. Private family services were held at a later date.
