Obituary

Rev. Ray H. Conklin, age 74, of Fremont passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. Ray was born on May 22, 1937, in Bitely, to Herbert and Ida Mae (McGhan) Conklin and married Vallerie Pearl Weaver on July 16, 1983 in Alaska. Ray was a missionary and pilot serving many remote areas in Alaska. Also, while in Alaska, he served as a heavy equipment operator and worked on the Alaska pipeline project. Ray was a member of the Operating Engineers union in Detroit #324 and member of the Church of Life Science. Ray was an outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Vallerie of Fremont; children, Ray Conklin Jr., Jack Conklin, Julie (Mick) Benham, Brad Conklin, Rick Conklin, Gene (Linda) Conklin, Dan Conklin, Kathy Conklin, Vikkie (Jerry) Kinney, Frank Willard, and Brandie and Donovan Gahm; many grand and great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Jay Conklin and Delores Krise, several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Rosalie Rook; in-laws, Joyce Weaver Cyphers, Lorann Weaver (Bob Jahr), Larry (Lora) Weaver, and Cindy Weaver; many close friends, Scott (Kim) Hull, Jessica Olsen, Deanna Baker, Ed Rutter, Kris Stockhome, and Don Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Jim Conklin; sisters, Lara May Rydell, and Marlene Conklin; in-laws, Harry Bud and Opal Weaver. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 2 PM, at the Hesperia American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
