Raymond "Ray" D. Shinew, age 82 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Sanctuary at the Park in Muskegon. Ray was born on December 29, 1935 in Grand Rapids to Gladys W. (Geise) Shinew and graduated from Fremont High School in 1954. Ray met and later married Louise Ann Zerlaut on June 23, 1956 in Bailey. Ray had worked for Grant Tower as a foreman for over 30 years until his retirement and has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area and was a member of the Family of God Community Church in Newaygo. Ray enjoyed restoring antique cars, hunting, fishing, had been a gun collector and enjoyed reloading and shooting. Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise of Grant and Fremont; his children, Theron (Kim) Shinew of Rainbow Lake; Terry (Deb) Shinew of Bullock, North Carolina; Todd (Shelley) Shinew of Grand Haven; Tracey (Daryl) Dowker of Zeeland; 9 grandchildren, Teresa (Jeremy) DePew; Jenny (Riley) Justis; Matt (Lacey) Shinew; Melanie (Nick) VandenBrink; Genecia (Jon) Mejeur; Darcy (Andrew) Shinew-Howe; Tiffany (Mitch James) Shinew; Marissa Dowker; Nolan Dowker; 15 great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Barnard. VISITATION : Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 11am-12pm at the Family of God Community Church 90 Quarterline Street Newaygo MI 49337.
