Raymond A. Pykonen, age 82 of White Cloud passed away Friday, May 18, 2001 at his home following a lingering illness. He was born on June 6, 1918 in Altantic Mine, Michigan and married Elsie Garry on April 2, 1948 in Detroit. He has been a resident of the White Cloud area since 1963 where he had been a Steel Rolled Dye Maker. He was a veteran of World War II where he served at Pearl Harbor. He was a life member of the White Cloud V.F.W. and was a 1939 graduate of Painesdale High School and member of the Jeffers Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife, Elsie of White Cloud; sons, John Pykonen of Fremont; Kevin Pykonen of Ripley, Tennesee; Garry (Kay) Pykonen of White Cloud; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his sister, Florence Letvenouw of Hancock, Michigan; brothers, Robert (Ila) Pyknonen of Minnetonka, Minnisota; William Pykonen of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rose Pemberta; Evelyn Pyykkonen and a brother, Kenneth Pyykkonen. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Rev. Father Ray Bruck presiding with interment in the Lincoln Township Cemetery . Friends may consider the Fremont Area Community Foundation for The White Cloud Area Library or the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund for memorial contributions.
