Rebecca Ann Becky (Harper) Machiele, age 44 of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the North Ottawa Hospice House in Spring Lake following a short illness with ALS. Becky was born on October 16, 1969 in Fremont to Harry W. and Helen Jannette (Bitson) Harper and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1988. Becky then graduated from Ferris State University with an associates degree as a certified ophthalmic assistant and had worked at Crew and Boss Eye Associates in Big Rapids. Becky married Randall Machiele on June 22, 2002 in White Cloud and was a member of the Northland Church of Christ in Grant. Becky enjoyed camping, hunting, and being in the Michigan outdoors. Becky is survived by her husband, Randy of Newaygo; her step son, Zach Machiele of Newaygo; her mother, Helen Jannette Harper of White Cloud; sisters and brothers, Harold (Rachael) Harper of Grand Haven; Helen (Bruce) Ammer of Carmichael, California; Kris (Tom) Jordan of Parchment, Michigan; Eric Harper of White Cloud; sister-in-law, Peggy Harper of White Cloud; her mother-in-law, Dee Machiele of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Harper; her brothers, Hugh Harper and Neil Harper. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11am at the Northland Church of Christ 9891 Mason Drive Grant MI 49337 with Pastor Dan Nicksich presiding with interment in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the ALS Research at the Northwestern University in Chicago in memory of Becky.
