Rebecca J. Becky Jansma, age 50 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Becky was born on February 22, 1964 in Grand Rapids to Robert and Grace (Hansen) Loll and graduated from Hope College with a Bachelors Degree of Science. Becky met and later married Tim Jansma on December 29, 1988 in Fremont. Becky enjoyed riding horses, cooking, entertaining at her home, music and gardening at her home. Becky truly loved being a part of her childrens lives in music and helping them excel in their own lives. Becky had played in the Sectional Bass of the Grand Rapids Symphony and later played as Principle Bass in the West Shore Symphony Orchestra until 1990. Becky was instrumental in fundraising activities in various areas of West Michigan including the Dogwood Center for Performing Arts where she had served as Chairman of the Board and also worked as a development associate at the Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp for several years. Becky had recently worked at the Muskegon Hearing and Speech Center as a practice manager in marketing. Becky has also been the marketing manager for Jansma Violin Shop for the past 26 years, managing marketing, web site design and management and music educational programs for students throughout West Michigan. Becky is survived by her husband, Tim of Fremont; her son, Joe (Shannon) Jansma of Ann Arbor; her daughter, Audrey Jansma of Kalamazoo; her mother, Grace Smalligan of Zephyr Hills, Florida; her sister, Diana (Dan) Evans of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Jansma of Fremont; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Chris) Chiles of Alvaton, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Jon Jansma of Cleveland; nieces and nephews, Angela (Bill) Evans; Scott (Jennifer) Stockwell; Kyle (Dean Amato) Stockwell; Derek (Rachel) Stockwell; Mabel Jansma. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Loll; her sister, Mary Stockwell; her father-in-law, Ray Jansma. A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 1-3pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with a memorial service at 3pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel in Fremont. For a more lasting memorial,friends may consider contributions to the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Endowment Fund. Checks may be made out to the Blue lake Fine Arts Camp in memory of Becky J. Jansma.
