Rex Homan Jr., age 83, of Hesperia died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his home. He was born on July 14, 1927, in Newfield Township to Rex and Anna May (Ward) Homan Sr. and married Arlene Marie (Thompson) Homan on June 19, 1948, in Muskegon. Rex was a driver/agent for Busch Oil Company in Fremont and had served as the Mayor of Hesperia, Chief of the Hesperia Fire Department, and member of the school board. He was active in the community, coaching womens softball league and little league, acting at the local Santa, and helping with the ambulance service in the area. Rex was a Navy Veteran of WWII and member of the Hesperia American Legion. Rex is survived by his loving wife Arlene; children, Daniel (Eileen) Homan of Hesperia, Gary (Margene) Homan of Beaverton, MI, Craig (Eileen) Homan of Salem, South Carolina, and Susan Anderson of Hesperia; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Vera Lamrock, Virginia Sabin, Iva Campbell, Lula Johnson, Arthur Homan and John Homan. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rexs nephew, Thayer Hunt officiating. Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery with military honors presented by the Hesperia American Legion. Friends may consider Hospice of Michigan for a more lasting memorial.
