Richard Douglas Flickema, age 71, of Holton, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in Muskegon. He was born on February 4, 1933, in Oceana County to Mike and Isabella (Moss) Flickema and was a finish machine operator at S.D. Warren until his retirement in 1994. Richard was a Air Force Veteran and member of the P.P.O. Local #1015, Holton American Legion Cobb Trygstad Anderson Post # 397, and V.F. W. Post #446 in Muskegon. He is survived by his children, James D. (Laura) Flickema of Petoskey, Joseph J. (Lisa) Flickema of Holton, and Cheryl A. (Gregory) Clements of Grand Rapids; mother, Isabella Flickema of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren; significant other Barbara Sprague of Muskegon and her children, Leonard (Stacy) Sprague of Fremont, Donald (Linda) Sprague of Altus, Oklahoma, Richard (Wendy) Sprague of Fremont, Jennifer (Carl) Blain of Newaygo, and John (Karen) Sprague of Fort Meyers, Florida; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Lois (Jim) Weight of Waynesboro, Penn.; his brother, Gary (Becky) Flickema of Twin Lake; his Aunt Donna Dawe of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Mike Flickema and sister Leone Hampton. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 24, at 3 p.m. from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
