Obituary

Richard Lee Hawkins, age 81 of Twin Lake, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Trinity Health Mercy Campus in Muskegon. Richard was born on March 5, 1941 in Muskegon to William L. "Chum" and Arlene (Rameau) Hawkins and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1959. Richard met Lorraine LeClercq in their high school years and they started dating and were married on April 11, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muskegon. Richard had been a machinist at American Coil and Spring in Muskegon for 44 years until his retirement in 2001. Richard was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick and held his faith in high regard and was a man of deep faith. Richard was never one to sit idle throughout his lifetime and was known for his "jack of all trades" knowledge and was always willing to help others, but wanted no fanfare, he simply enjoyed helping others quietly. He built the home that he and Lorraine live in today, in 1971. He also helped his children and others build their own homes. He had worked as a body shop technician as well and built dune buggies and motorcycles. He enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife in his yard, going for car rides and traveling with Lorraine before his health declined. His family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the highlight in his life and he was a father figure to many of the extended family. Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine; his children, Renee (Randy) Seabolt of Fremont; Richard "Rick" (Coleen) Hawkins Jr. of Holton; James Hawkins of Stony Lake; Jackie (Steve) Evanauski of Twin Lake; Lisa (Jeff) Sevigny of Twin Lake; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; his sisters, Vicki (Doug) Cope of Holton; Jamie Nichols of Holton; his brothers, Richard Mell of Chicago; Bob (Barb) Scott of Twin Lake; many nieces and nephews.
