Richard Douglas Martin, age 69, of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday November 4, 2018. Richard was born on December 19, 1948 in St. Joseph County to Richard Morris and Ruby (Martin) Martin and has been a resident of the Muskegon area for the past 35 years. Richard met Nancy Ralston and they have been together since 1984 and were married on November 15, 1991 in White Cloud. Richard had been a teacher and manager at the skilled trades center in Muskegon in the machining and automotive departments for 11 years and has been an auto mechanic most of his life. Richard enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, had built and raced his own drag racing car for many years, enjoyed camping and attending steam engine shows and had hunted and built his own radios in his younger years. Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy of Muskegon; his sons, Darius (Felicia) Cross of Grand Rapids; Brent (Lois) Martin of Muskegon; grandchildren, Deona and Darlynne Cross; Brittney and Alexis Martin; his brother, Gauntrial (Julie) Morris of Muskegon; his sisters, Sheen Chandler of Muskegon; Renee Logan of Texas; Felisa (Kennith) Young of Washington; his mother Ciggzree Morris of Muskegon; father-in-law Lee Ralston of White Cloud; brother-in-law, Michael (Judi) Ralston of Grand Rapids; a host of nieces, nephews; his best friend, Michael Haney of Kentucky.
