Richard Dick Matthews, age 83, of Fremont, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at his home. Dick was born on September 26, 1927, in Grand Rapids to Alden and Beatrice (Conley) Matthews and married Ella Matthews on March 11, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dick retired from Teledyne Continental as a machinist and served in the US Air Force. Dick loved his family and was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church. Dick is survived by his loving wife Ella; children, Gary (Ellyn) Matthews of Muskegon, Nancie (Charles) Erickson of Fremont, and Lisa Sundberg of Hesperia; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and sister, Darlene Holmes of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willis and sister, Ellanor. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Holton United Methodist Church with pastor Jerry Selleck officiating.
