Obituary

Richard Lee Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Hesperia, MI, on Thursday, January 29th, 2026. He was born on July 8th, 1953, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Robert Sr. and Della (Adams) Miller.

Rich shared a wonderful 44-year marriage with his wife Karen (Vining) Miller, with whom he built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised three children who blessed them with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rich is survived by his daughter Carie Miller Kindlinger of Newaygo, MI; sons Michael (Heather) Miller of White Cloud, MI, and Brandon Miller of Hesperia, MI. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren Paige, Trevin, and Colton Miller of Newaygo, MI; Hailey (Ethan) Miller-Crawford, of Bellevue, MI; Sophia Zsigray-Miller, Jemma, and Brooklyn Miller of White Cloud, MI; and Onalee Smith of Lakeland, FL. He adored his great-grandchildren, Chase and baby Crawford, of Bellevue, MI. Rich is also survived by his brothers Robert (Wendy) Miller Jr. and Ronald (Ann) Miller Sr. of Pennsylvania, as well as a large family of brothers- and sisters-in-law: Terry (Michelle McCune) Vining, Aubrey (Kim) Vining, Cindy (Lorne) Ritola, Sandra (Matt) Stoner, Sharon (Bill) Altman, Cristy Shelton, Deb (Joe) Bowers, Gail (Rick) Booth, Linda Vining, and many devoted nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Robert Sr. and Della Miller; his father- and mother-in-law, Aubrey and Irene Vining; his son-in-law, James Kindlinger; his sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Ed Alofs; his sister-in-law, Diane Shelton; and his nephew, Benjamin Vining.

A dedicated welder by profession, Rich was respected for his strong work ethic and skill. However, his passions extended beyond work to the great outdoors. He found immense joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening, embracing each with dedication and enthusiasm. Rich's life was rich with achievements, yet he humbly considered his greatest success to be the family he nurtured and cherished. Becoming a grandfather and great-grandfather brought him unparalleled joy and fulfillment.

There will be a Celebration of Life on February 28 from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Everett Township Hall in White Cloud where family encourages friends to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the family for unexpected future expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel.
