Obituary

Richard Dick H. Mills, age 70 of White Cloud, passed away, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at his home following a long illness. Dick was born on June 8, 1940 in Fremont to Robert Lloyd and Mary Catherine (Fell) Mills. Dick has been a lifelong resident of the area where he had been a ambulance driver in Newaygo County and firefighter with the White Cloud Fire Department for several years until he started work at NARCO where he worked until his retirement in 2003. Dick met and later married Judith Colantuono in 1998 in White Cloud. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching Nascar racing and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Dick was a veteran of the United States Army. Dick is survived by his wife, Judy of White Cloud; his daughter, Tammy Cooper of Hesperia; his son, Richard Henry Mills of Hart; stepchildren, Russ (Tammy) Winters of Sparta; Vincent (Vicky) Eller of New Mexico; Kristina Maczka of Allendale; Virginia Scott of Grant; Donald Eller of Muskegon; Denise Goins of White Cloud; Dirk Vanzanten of White Cloud; his mother, Mary C. Smith of White Cloud; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Ron) Mullins of White Cloud; his brothers, Paul (Barbara Jean) Mills of Indiana; Donald (Juanita) Mills of Oklahoma; Ray Mills of Oklahoma; William Mills of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lloyd Mills; his stepfather, Harry Smith; sisters, Gladys and Barbara; brothers, Wayne, Lloyd Robert. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1pm at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in White Cloud with military rites given under the auspices of the Newaygo V.F.W. As I was able to see him nearly everyday at NARCO, He is in my thoughts and prays. I still relate to people that I was born in the big house and he was born in the little house, on the Atwood property on N. River Dr. I will remember him always.
