Richard S. Skowronski, age 88 of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home. Rich was born on August 24, 1930 in Grand Rapids to Stephen and Antoinette (Selkirk) Skowronski and graduated from Rockford High School. Richard later met and married Leonore A. "Norrie" Myszak on May 16, 1953 at the St. James Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. Norrie preceded him in death on March 26, 2012. Rich had worked at the General Motors Company as a sewing machine repair technician for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, snowmobiling, and enjoyed traveling with Norrie after their retirement. Rich was a former member of the Newaygo County Sportsman's Club. Rich was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Rich is survived by his children, Steven Skowronski of Sparta; John (Amy) Skowronski of Grand Rapids; Mary Beth Berndt of Dorr; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norrie, his son, Thomas R. Skowronski on December 26, 2011; his grandson, Nicholas A. Skowronski on December 27, 1996; his daughter-in-law, Emily Jean Skowronski on August 30, 2002; his son-in-law, Jerry Berndt; his sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie (Henry) Glass.
