Richard J. Dick Thompke Sr., age 81 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont following a lingering illness. Dick was born on April 23, 1934 in Marshall, Michigan to Joseph and Margaret (Horvath) Thompke and later married Delores S. Luther on December 31, 1960 in Lansing. Dick and Delores moved to the White Cloud area in 1962 from Lansing . Dick had been a tool and die maker, had worked at the Newaygo County Road Commission and together with Delores, owned and operated the D & Ds Party Store from 1966 until 1997. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and growing roses and had been a rocket football and junior varsity football coach in White Cloud for several years. Dick was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he had been active in the Knights of Columbus. Richard is survived by his wife, Delores of White Cloud; his son, Richard J. (Kelly) Thompke Jr. of Plainwell; his daughter, Linda Thompke (fianc, Philip Anderson) of Whitehall; his grandchildren, Heather and Jared Thompke; James (Melissa) Hitts; Krystle (Jeremy) Bisard; Chelsea (Jeremy) Newfer; and Brandon Kuck; 6 great grandchildren; his brother, Phillip (Diane) Thompke of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marian Hitts; his sister, Jean McAnallen and his brother, Joseph Thompke. VISITATION : Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel (1109 Court Street White Cloud) with ROSARY SERVICES at 6:30pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. MASS OF RESSURECTION : Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (965 Newell Street White Cloud MI 49349). INTERMENT : Lincoln Township Cemetery.
