Richard E. "Rick" Alverson, age 71, of White Cloud and of Lansing, passed away on January 22, 2018, at Spectrum Health Services – Gerber Memorial Campus in Fremont. Rick was born on November 21, 1946, in Grand Rapids to Claude Eugene and Donna Mae (Preston) Alverson and married Dianne Elaine Dodge on November 4, 1966, in Lansing. Rick retired from the Lansing Board of Water and Light (Eckert Station) after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching wildlife. Rick proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Newport News. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; sister, Bette Ann Rea; brothers, Timothy Alverson and William Alverson; niece, Kelly (Steve) Lewis and their children, Matthew Corliss and Elizabeth (Wes) Rutherford; niece, Karey (Steve) Wojciechowski and their son , Bradley Terry; and nephew, Marty (Jenny) Rea. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 26, 2018, at East Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in Okemos, Michigan.
