Robert C. Bob Johnson, age 81 of Hesperia, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at his home. Bob was born on October 18, 1930 in Muskegon to Carl Lloyd and Ada (Hughey) Johnson and has been a resident of the Hesperia area for the past 40 years when he moved from Muskegon. Bob had worked at the Liftech Corporation in Muskegon for 42 years until his retirement in 1993. Bob married Maren Dean on June 15, 1951 in Muskegon and Maren preceded him in death on July 15, 1998. Bob later married Barbara Best on May 1, 1999 in Shelby. Bob enjoyed living on Crepin lake where he could spend time on the pontoon boat, fishing, hunting, feeding the hummingbirds, and driving on the 2 tracks. Bob had enjoyed bowling in his younger years and was a former member of the Eagles. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Shelby Road Baptist Church in Shelby. Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara of Hesperia; his children, Lyndon (Sue) Johnson of Hesperia; Sherrill (Gene) Stamps of White Cloud; Marcy Johnson of Muskegon; Greg Johnson of Muskegon; his step daughter, Sharita (Gary) Prowant of Shelby;13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; his brothers, Wayne (Leni) Johnson of White Cloud; Russell (Phyllis) Johnson of Montague; David (Iva) Johnson of Grand Rapids; his sister, Pamela Johnson of Arizona; his aunt, Rachel Hughey of Montague; sister-in-law, Flicka Johnson of Hart; brother-in-law, Richard Grodstien of Arizona. Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Artie Johnson; Donna Grodstien; and his brother, Roger Johnson. VISITATION : Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel and 1 hour prior to the services at the Shelby Road Baptist Church. FUNERAL SERVICES : Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2pm at the Shelby Road Baptist Church 4066 W Shelby Road Shelby, MI. INTERMENT : South Ferry Cemetery.
