Robert F. Clarke, age 87 of Hesperia, passed away Friday, September 5, 2003 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont . He was born on July 14, 1916 in Walkerville , Michigan to Charles and Lois (Gillett) Clark. He moved back to Hesperia from Monroe , Michigan in 1978 where he had been a self employed carpenter all his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He is survived by his children, Anna (Thomas) Woodbury of Canton, Michigan; Mary (Leon) Richardson of Grand Haven, Michigan ; Lois (James) Scaarschmidt of Oakfield, Georgia; Peter Clarke of Petersburg, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Cecile Phelps of Fremont; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Sadie and his brothers, Verne, Harry, Harvey; and his former wife, Mabel Clarke. Funeral memorial services were held on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 1:00pm from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Celebrant Curt A. Crandell presiding with interment in the West Hesperia Cemetery . Friends may consider the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Michigan Newaygo County for contributions in memory of Robert.
