Obituary

Robert Hugh DeWispelaere Sr., age 91, of Newaygo passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Green Acres in Fremont. Robert was born on February 17, 1929, in Plainwell, Michigan, to Paul and Lena (Swanson) DeWispelaere and married Jean Morrill in 1955. Robert had worked at Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids as a foreman for over 36 years. He was an avid archer, enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, and gardening in his younger years. Family was important to him and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 4249 in Newaygo. Robert is survived by his children, Beverly Jones of Austin, Texas, Bob H. (Kelly) DeWispelaere of Sparta, and Jay (Carol) DeWispelaere of Newaygo; grandchildren, Mark (Jen) Pintar, Amy (BB) Sanders, Jamie (Jerimiah) Czupski, Sadie DeWispelaere, Justin (Tasha) DeWispelaere, John (Veronica) Jones Jr., Jemery Jackson, Nicole (Matt) Moross, and Bobi Jo (Miles) Mullins; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Graveside and military services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Newaygo Cemetery with Pastor Dave Russell from the Victory Fellowship Church in Newaygo officiating.
