Robert Kay "Bob" Robart, age 77 of Fremont, passed away Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 at his home following a short illness. Bob was born on October 2, 1940in Whitneyville, Michigan to Marvin Karl and Eleanor Anna (Roe) Robart and graduated from Fremont High School in 1958. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Joan Stettnisch on April 26, 1958 in Fremont and has been a longtime resident of the Fremont area. After their marriage, Bob and Joan moved to Blue Island, Illinois where he was a hammer operator at Modern Drop Forge for several years until they moved back to Fremont. Bob then started Robart Roofing which he operated for 22 years, later owned and operated Main Street Restaurant in Fremont and then became the breakfast cook at Side Street Café in Fremont for 15 years until his retirement.
Bob was an avid Fremont Football supporter and provided the year end steak dinner for the football team for many years and was an avid statewide high school sports fan and tracked many teams throughout the state of Michigan. He has also been a little league manager for over 20 years; had played softball for many years until his health would not allow and then became a softball coach; was a lifelong member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555; member of the Eagles, VFW in Markhum, Illinois and had served as a fireman in Illinois for several years and enjoyed golf later in life. Bob's true passion was bowling and had rolled 2 - 300 games throughout his career. Bob had enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan of Fremont; his children Kathy Robart (Betty Swanson) of Montague; Kristene Robart (Michael Tiemann) of Grant; Karen (Marvin) Robart-Riffle of Scottville; Karl (Theresa) Robart of Newaygo; Kimberly (David) Robart Thompson of White Cloud; Kenneth Robart of Sunfield, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his sister, Betty (Ray) Loomis of Six Lakes, Michigan and Florida; his brothers, George (Violet) Robart of Newaygo; Randy (Mary) Robart of Newaygo; longtime friend, Ron Luchie of Fremont; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Robart and John Robart. Bob also wanted to thank the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus nurses for the wonderful care given to Bob over the past year.
A time to gather with the family and celebrate Bob's life will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1-5pm at the Bridgeton Township Hall 11830 Warner Ave Grant MI 49327. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Bob Robart Football Scholarship Fund - Fremont Athletic Department 5421 S. Warner Fremont, Mi 49412 in memory of Bob.
