Koewers, Robert Lee Robert Lee Koewers, age 90 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2004 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born on February 7, 1914 in Kent County to Henry and Estella (Cameron) Koewers and married Nina Raak in 1937 in Grand Rapids. He had been a driver and mechanic for Yellow Taxi Cab Company in Grand Rapids until his retirement around 1970 when he and his wife moved to Newaygo where Robert operated Newaygo Discount Auto Parts and Gas for 1 year then moved to White Cloud. He enjoyed buying, fixing and selling used cars. Robert also served in the National Guard. He is survived by his children, Dorothy (Philip) Hogan of Fremont; DeDe (Sam) Zimmerman of Newaygo; Don (Paula) Koewers of Pensacola, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; his brother, Donald Koewers of White Cloud. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina on July 25, 1984 and his son, Doug Koewers on May10, 2003. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 from the St. Johns Episcopal Church in Fremont with Rev. Mary Frens-String presiding with interment in the Hanley Cemetery in Georgetown Township. Friends may consider the American Cancer Society for Newaygo County for memorial contributions in memory of Robert.
