Born Robert Michael Alexander, his friends knew him as "Mike". He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Robinson Alexander and Ann Irene Jancewitz, along with a sister, Roberta Follrath. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Born in Muskegon, Michigan, he lived his life in Muskegon until he retired and moved to Hesperia in 1996. After graduating high school, Mike proudly joined the United States Navy. After serving his country and playing football for the Navy, he returned to the states and married the love of his life, Kathleen "Kathy" Pavlick. They had 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Two more are expected in the next 3 months. Mike worked for Snider Home Furnishings, Sealed Power, was a Pinkerton guard and retired from S.D. Warren after 33 years. He was in the first graduating class from Muskegon Community College with an Associates in Business. Mike was an avid hunter and member of the Safari Club International. He loved watching the Michigan Wolverines and was well known for rooting for the underdog in any game. He loved to have friends stop by and sit on the deck with a drink telling stories and laughing for hours. He was incredibly kind and giving. Mike was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and member of the Hesperia American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, his children, Kristi (Ron) Rop of Fruitport, Bradley (Tiffany) Alexander of Muskegon and Brett (Cassandra) Alexander of Muskegon. He has 6 beloved grandchildren, Aaron (Misty) Rop, Brandon (Heather) Alexander, Andrew (Kristen) Rop, Jordan (Felecia) Alexander, Justin (Paige) Alexander, and Alexander (Christine) Rop. He also has 9 much loved great-grandchildren, Zoey, Piper, Carson, Adalynn, Parker, Graham, Clyde, Austynn, and Ellie Mae. Also suffering a huge loss are his sister, Dorothy Witte and best friends Rod Veltman, Chuck Fitch, and Dennis Botten along with many dear nieces and nephews.
If you knew Mike, your world was a brighter and better place. Without his brilliant blue eyes and smile that could light up a room, the world just got a whole lot darker. A Celebration of Life may be scheduled in the future. For more lasting memorial friends are asked to consider American Cancer Society or Spectrum Health Hospice.
