Robert J. Schropp, age 86 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Robert was born on October 15, 1929 in Coopersville to Jacob and Mary (Spangler) Schropp and later married Dorothy Ekkel on May 18, 1956 in White Cloud. Robert had worked at Gerber Products until his retirement in 1968 and then continued to work on his dairy farm for many years after. Robert enjoyed working on his farm, spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and woodworking in his retirement years. Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy of Hesperia; his children, Mary Anne (Frank) Samples of Lansing; Mark (Jennifer) Schropp of Bitely; James (Kathryn) Schropp of Whitehall; John Schropp of Alabama; Amy Schropp of Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren due in October; his brother, Fred Schropp of Scottville. Robert was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother Private services will be held at the family farm following cremation.
