Robert J. Torrie, age 60 of Manistee, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at his sisters home in Newaygo. Robert was born on December 5, 1953 to Jack and Aurelia Ann (Stone) Torrie. Robert worked for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in Manistee and had also been a tour guide at the SS Milwaukee in Manistee for several years. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed listening to and teaching music, painting and artwork, but especially treasured the time he spent with his family and his nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Robert is survived by his children, Desi Heistand and Kimberly Goldie; his father, Jack Torrie of Newaygo; his brother and sisters, Lamont Farrell of California; Jack Farrell of New Mexico; Willard Willie Farrell of Ionia; Peggy (George) Schindorf of Ionia; Charlotte Krueger of Ionia; Jacqueline (Terry) Rose of Irons, Michigan; Renee St. Cyr of Newaygo; Cynthia Funderburg of Newaygo; Bradley Torrie of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews including Jack and Pam Funderburg; several uncles and aunts. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Aurelia Ann Torrie and by his step mother, Bernice Corky Torrie on November 6, 2014. A time of remembrance and memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2pm at the St. Mary's Church Fellowship Hall-239 W Clay Ave, Muskegon, MI 49440.
