Obituary

Rodney Dale Dickinson Sr., 67, of Hesperia, MI, passed away peacefully at his home after a two year courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Born on June 16, 1957, in Fremont, Michigan, Rodney lived a life full of love, family, and adventure.

Rod was a devoted auto mechanic by profession, known for his skilled hands and problem-solving abilities. He transformed his passion into a lifelong career, earning respect and friendships in his community. However, Rodney's true calling was as a family man. He was the cornerstone of his family, always putting them at the center of his world. A passionate hunter, Rodney embarked on numerous hunting trips across various states, creating cherished memories and unrivaled stories. His love for the outdoors and adventure was contagious and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Rod is survived by his loving mother, Eleanor Elaine Dickinson, his sons, Rodney (Tammy) Dickinson Jr. of Hesperia, MI, and Daniel Dickinson of Alaska. He was a proud grandfather to Hunter (Kyra Sayers) Dickinson of Hesperia and Kolby (Brittney Tinkham) Dickinson of Hesperia. Rodney's legacy continues through his brother James (Diane) Dickinson of Huntsville, Arkansas, his brother Jerry (Lora) Dickinson of Fremont, his brother Dennis (Janet) Dickinson of White Cloud, his sister Diane Lang of Hesperia, and his sister Gail Kittle of Hesperia. Rodney was preceded in death by his dad, James Elton Dickinson, as well as his nephew Joshua Kittle, his brother-in-law James Kittle, his great-niece Megan Dickinson, his great-nephew Bo Dickinson, also someone who meant a great deal to Rod and was what he would refer to as "the love of his life" Cathy Zok who also passed away from cancer.

A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at 3pm on October 11 at the family residence in Hesperia, MI. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to come together and honor his memory. Funeral arrangements have been provided by Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont.
