Obituary

Roger D. Foster, age 71 of White Cloud, passed away, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his home following a lingering illness. Roger was born on May 28, 1945 in Fremont to William and Virginia (Thompson) Foster and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1963. After high school, Roger joined the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. Roger married Kathleen Champion on December 17, 1966 in White Cloud and has been a lifelong resident of the White Cloud area where he had attended the White Cloud United Methodist Church. Roger had worked as a heavy equipment repair technician at the Newaygo County Road Commission for several years until his retirement in 2008 and then owned and operated his own trucking company until his final retirement. Roger enjoyed football, baseball, farming and gardening, woodworking and tinkering at his home. He was a member of the White Cloud VFW Post #2053 and had participated in the Memorial Day Parade honor guard for several years. Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen of White Cloud; his sons, Tony (Robin) Foster of White Cloud; Steven (Pam) Foster of Willis, Texas; Jamey (Lani) Foster of Newaygo; Gregory (Sara) Foster of White Cloud; his mother, Virginia Smith of Sarasota, Florida; his grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, Tyler (Kimberly), Skyler, Haley, Emily (Josh), Ava, Ezra, Evalyn, Ellason, and Michael; his great grandson, Trenton; his brother, Rick (Shelby) Foster of White Cloud; sister, Mary Foster of Sarasota, Florida; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Ron (Marti) Champion of White Cloud; special friends, Pat and Char. Roger was preceded in death by his father, William Foster and his mother-in-law, Mary Champion. VISITATION : Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL MEMORIAL SERVICES with MILITARY RITES : Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11am at the White Cloud United Methodist Church 1125 Newell White Cloud MI. INTERMENT : Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : White Cloud VFW #2053.
