Roger L. Spurgeon, age 75, of White Cloud, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at his home with his family and caretaker, daughter Heidi, by his side. Roger was born on February 4, 1934, in Coshocton, Ohio, to Lewis and Edith (Middleton) Spurgeon and was a heavy equipment operator for Dykema Excavating in Grand Rapids for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1997. Roger married Sandra Southard on December 17, 1982, in Napoleon, Ohio, and was a member of the White Cloud Eagles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. Roger is survived by his loving wife Sandra; children, Pam (Terry) Albrecht of Newaygo, Rick Spurgeon of Walla Walla, Washington, and Heidi (Nevin) Leguire of White Cloud; mother, Edith Spurgeon of Fremont; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Yvonne) Spurgeon of Fremont and Jim (Mary) Spurgeon of Fremont; many aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Spurgeon and granddaughter, Jamie Gillette. Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the White Cloud Eagles with Hospice of Michigan Chaplain- Judy Corey officiating.
