Roland Champion Roland G. Champion, age 72 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, February 11, 2000 at the Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was born on August 19, 1927 in Kalamazoo to James S. and Florence E. (Vaughn) Champion and married Julia Moon on June 9, 1978 in Newaygo. He has been a lifelong resident of White Cloud where he had been a investigator for the Newaygo County Circuit Court, had worked for the Newaygo County Sheriffs Department and had also worked at Gerber Products Company. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud. He is survived by his wife, Julia of White Cloud; children, Ronald (Kay) Champion of Hesperia; Kathleen (Roger) Foster of White Cloud; stepchildren, Dorothy (Henry) LaBelle of Howard City; Elsie (Mike) Kymes of White Cloud; Edward Schaub of Elmira; Carol Schaub of White Cloud; Annette (David) Crisler of Fremont; 24 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters, Roma (Dale) Ditlow of White Cloud; Gladys (George) Heath of Phoenix, Arizona; brothers, Robert (Beatrice) Champion of Greenville, South Carolina; Chester (Burle) Underwood of Marshall, Michigan. A brother, Billy Champion; stepsons, Ralph Schaub and Arnold Schaub; and one granddaughter, Tammy Kymes, preceded him in death. Funeral Mass Services were held on Monday, February 14, 2000 from the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud with Father Lawrence Karcz presiding with military rites given by the Newaygo Sportsmans Post VFW Post 4249 with interment in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
