Roland C. Ron Haywood, age 81 of Twin Lake, passed away Monday evening at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence following a short illness. Ron was born on April 26, 1927 in Ludington, Michigan to Cy and Emily (Spaulding) Haywood and met and later married Elizabeth Betty Bacon on March 12, 1954 in Muskegon. Betty preceded him in death. Ron had been a inspector at the Teledyne Continental Motors Company in Muskegon for many years until his retirement in the early 1970s. Ron enjoyed taking care of his yard, fishing in the area and all kinds of dogs. Ron served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the VFW. Ron is survived by his sons, Roger (Cathy) Haywood of Fremont; Russell (KariAnn) Haywood of Twin Lake; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters and 6 brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Betty; his sons, Rodney and Ronald Haywood. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. Kate Meyer of the Newaygo County Chaplaincy Services presiding with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery in Holton. Friends may consider the Roland Haywood Family to assist with funeral expenses, C/O Crandell Funeral Home or Harbor Hospice for the Poppen Residence for memorial contributions in memory of Roland.
