Ronald E. Kempf, age 76 of Fremont, entered Heaven on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Ron was born on April 27, 1944 in Muskegon to Robert Ellwood and Evelyn Mae (Parker) Kempf and graduated from Holton High School in 1962. Ron joined the United States Air Force the day after he graduated and served for 4 years as a Crew Chief on the RB66 Aircraft, 10th Tactical Recon Wing, based in Alconbury, England until his honorable discharge. Ron returned to the West Michigan area and had been a Pinkerton Undercover Agent, worked for the Chesapeake Ohio Railroad, worked in food sales for various companies and retired after 15 years as a School Bus Driver for Fremont Public Schools. Ron married Jolyn Ann Scheer on June 15, 1985 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fremont and together they have celebrated 35 years of marriage. Ron was a member of Harvest Fremont Church and loved to share his faith. He enjoyed golfing, was a Detroit Lions fan, enjoyed making maple syrup with his friends, boating, talking with other veterans throughout the community, was an animal lover and enjoyed the Michigan outdoors.
Ron is survived by his wife, Jolyn Ann of Fremont; his daughter, Melissa (Brad) Hoekert of Ada; Jen (Mike) Burkart of Portland, Oregon; Kate (Ben) Brandow of Bellevue, Washington; his grandchildren, Hannah, Nora, and Dawson Hoekert; Thatcher, Wyatt and Arlo Burkart; his sister, Mary Ellen Klomp of Fremont; several nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Kempf; by his brother, Larry Kempf; by his sister, Karolyn Rollenhagen, by his brothers-in-laws, Jack Klomp and Bob Rollenhagen; by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rev. R. William and Lois Scheer.
VISITATION : Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 12-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412. NOTE : during visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home and friends will need to rotate in and out with face coverings being required.
