Ronald J. Richards, 91, of White Cloud, MI passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

He was born on January 31, 1934, in White Cloud, the son of Bert and Eloise (Sweeney) Richards. On September 19, 1959, Ron married the love of his life, Barbara Thumser, and together they shared a beautiful life of love, hard work, and family.

Ron went to work for Gerber Products Co. and then entered the Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his military service, he returned to work at Gerber, where he had a successful 42-year career and was a proud RWDSU Local 530 union steward for over 3 decades.  While at Gerber, he also found time to pursue his passion for running and joined Gerber's corporate running team where he would proudly compete annually in his favorite race, the Riverbank 25k.

Ron was the definition of a hardworking provider. On weekends, he worked for his brother delivering fuel oil, and in the evenings, he bartended at the Lamplight Inn, where he enjoyed chatting with locals and being part of the community.

Although Ron was a humble man and often appeared stoic, his legendary quick wit and dry humor was well known by all who knew him. He was a devout Catholic and had a strong spiritual commitment to his faith.

One of Ron's great passions was deer hunting at his property, "the farm", where he enjoyed the fellowship with friends and family just as much as hunting. However, his greatest passion was time spent seeing his grandchildren participate in dance, theater and sports. He was especially proud while watching his only grandson play football.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Richards; Children: Rhonda Richards (Patrick Gillespie) and Rodney (Rhonda) Richards; Grandchildren: Athena and Avalon Gillespie, Rylee, Rocquel, and Roman Richards; Siblings: Carole Manchip, Terry (Judi) Richards, Patsy (Bill) Rottman, and Marcy (Larry) Hays; As well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Bill Richards, Jeanne Albanese, and Don Richards.

A Rosary service will be held Thursday, June 12th at 9:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud, MI. Visitation will be 10 am - 11 am in the Parish Hall with a Funeral Mass immediately following. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon after at the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
