Fend, Rory J. Rory J. Fend, age 45 of Walkerville, passed away Tuesday evening, January 4, 2005 at the University of Michigan Hospital following a 2 year battle with cancer. Rory was born on April 2, 1959 in Manistee to Albert and Bernadine (Budde) Fend and graduated from Scottville High School in 1977 and later attended Aquinas College. He married Kathy Lynn Hooker on October 12, 1985 in Ludington and has been a resident of the Walkerville area for the past 20 years. Rory had worked as a sales associate at Lundquist Furniture in Scottville and was affiliated with the Hesperia Baptist Church. He had been a high school All-State Athelete in basketball and enjoyed golf and fast pitch softball. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kathy of Walkerville; his son, Derek and daughter, Dana at home; his mother and father, Albert and Bernadine Fend of Freesoil; his grandmother, Anna Budde of Scottville; sister, Janell (Tom) Brickley of Grandville; brother, Del (Julie) Fend of Walker; nieces, Rachel & Courtney Fend and Andrea & Lauren Brickley; his mother-in-law, Shirley Hooker of Walkerville. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Hesperia Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Cooper of the Hesperia Baptist Church presiding with interment in the White Cloud Cemetery. Friends may consider the Hesperia Baptist Church or University of Michigan Cancer Research Center for N.H.L (Non Hodgkins Lymphoma) for memorial contributions in memory of Rory.
