Obituary

Roy E. Marshall, age 80 of Cedar Creek Township, passed away Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009 at his home following a short illness. Roy was born on June 5, 1928 in Muskegon to Earl and Lula (Syers) Marshall and met and later married Bonnie McQueen on Oct. 6, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana. Roy has been a lifelong resident of the area where he had been a heavy machine operator for Muskegon Asphalt for many years until retirement. Roy was a caring person who had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, being in the Michigan outdoors and enjoyed farming with his brother, Homer, and has been a member of the Operating Engineers Union for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie of Cedar Creek Township; sons, Roy and Billy; his granddaughter, Makayla; sisters, Audrey Norton of Muskegon; Marion VanLue of Holton; Gladys Bayne (friend, Bob Klingel) of Twin Lake; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Homer on December 1, 2008; sister, Ruth Survill; infant brother, Raymond. VISITATION : Saturday 2-4 & 6-8 FUNERAL SERVICES : Sunday at 3pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery in Holton. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : American Cancer Society.
