IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruby Irene
Bean
July 23, 1945 – May 10, 2024
Ruby Irene Bean, age 78 of Holton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 at her home. Ruby was born on July 23, 1945 in Cedar Creek Township and was adopted by Evelyn and Robert Jehnzen. Ruby has been a lifelong resident of the Holton area and met and married Robert Edward Bean on July 27, 1963. Ruby had worked at Misco after graduation for several years but spent her entire life as a farmer. She enjoyed running the family dairy farm and could find Ruby milking cows, feeding the calves and driving the tractor. She took care of many aspects of the farm including record keeping and cow movements. She even had a name for every cow, which she recognized by their individual markings. Ruby had been active in the Holton Methodist Church where she had taken care of funeral luncheons for many years and was a Board Member of the Holton Community Center where she had been active for many years.
She also enjoyed being outside and having plants that she would take out in the summer and back in for the winter months. She always had plant starters to share with everyone. She enjoyed word search puzzles and loved to bake and cook for her family. She was always up for a new recipe to try for her, but not so much for everyone else's waistline. She was proud of her grandchildren and being a grandma, great grandma, and even great great grandma. She loved her bigger and better titles as each new one came along. Ruby was a mom and grandma to many individuals, not family members, that she helped influence and made a positive impact in their lives.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert Edward Bean of Holton; her children – Robert Ellwood Bean; Sheila Irene Rios; Nelson Christopher (Michelle) Bean; Jeanette Lynn (Andy) Everding; her 14 grandchildren – Daniel Bean, Angela Manning, Cassandra Sanchez, Valeria Johnson, Alexandria Rinard, Ashley Woodruff, Christopher Botten, Jeff Botten, AJ Sugerbaker, Skylar Bean, Sheyenne Bean, Kurtis Bean, Jade Everding, Emerald Everding; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Darlene (John) Dykema; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Joe Andersen; Robert Jehnzen; her granddaughter, Cassandra Mae Sanchez Briones; her son-in-law, Danny Rios; her twin sister, Ruth Irene Walker as well as several other sisters and brothers.
