(Fowler) Baumunk

Ruby E. (Fowler) Baumunk, 94 years of White Cloud, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her home. Ruby was born to Clarence and Belinda Fowler on June 9, 1920 in White Cloud where she remained a lifelong resident. On November 29, 1943, she wed Gordon Baumunk and they were married 66 years until his death on August 21, 2009. Ruby and Gordon enjoyed traveling to the western states, and specifically, their trips to Las Vegas. Together they hosted the annual Fowler Family Reunion for over 40 years at their home on property originally owned by her parents where Ruby grew up. A graduate of White Cloud High School, Ruby worked in the Newaygo County Register of Deeds office for 42 years, first as clerk, then 23 years as Deputy Register. She was elected the Register of Deeds in 1969 and held that position until her retirement in 1984. Ruby was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, and aunt. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Fowler Matson; brothers, Byron Fowler and William Fowler and their spouses. Ruby is survived by her brother-in-law, Lloyd (Shirley) Baumunk. She will be missed by several nephews, nieces, and their children and grandchildren, who loved Ruby's young-at-heart spirit and her homemade turtle cookies. The family wishes to give special thanks to Barbara Taube, Ruby's long-time friend and devoted caregiver. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel 1109 Court Street, White Cloud, Michigan with a memorial luncheon to follow.
