Ruby Wolever, age 95, of White Cloud, passed away on January 14, 2022 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home of Fremont, MI. Ruby was born to Cassie Bidelman and Gladyss (Palen) Bidelman on April 6, 1926 in Michigan and attended White Cloud Public School. Ruby met and married Eldon Wolever in White Cloud where they raised their four children. She was a hard worker and managed her own restaurant "Hilltop" for several years and worked at Wolverine Worldwide in Big Rapids for 10 years. Singing, dancing, bird watching, and playing cards were some of her favorite pastimes.
Ruby's greatest joy was to be with her family and friends. Her warm, joyful heart and quiet strength drew many people into her life who felt immediately loved in her presence. She knew how to connect with people's hearts and make them feel special whether it was over a cup of coffee at "Hit the Road Joe" or welcoming friends and family to her home for a piece of homemade cherry pie. She was present with people and always offered a listening ear as they opened up to her about their lives, sharing their joys and struggles. It was her sweetness mixed with a spunky wit, openness and love that helped people feel welcome and at home, often returning as dear friends.
In 1985, she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and spent her remaining years faithfully serving the Lord and her church community. Her love for God became her source of strength. It was her loving, warm heart that touched every person she met and encouraged them to be themselves. Ruby's contagious joy and caring heart left a mark on many. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Irene Mullins of Stevensville, Michigan; Grace (Robert) Dakin of White Cloud; Charolette (Paul) Johnson of White Cloud, dear friends, Gerald (Louann) Horton, Ron (Shirley) Mullins, cherished neighbors Sharon (Nick) Nickerson, lifelong friend, Doris Hoover, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon Wolever; son, James Wolever; and grandson, Scott Mullins; several sisters and brothers,
As Proverbs 31 says, "A woman who fears the Lord is to be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise." Ruby's reward was the dear family and friends in her life she loved and who loved her.
