Russell W. Bud Skilling, age 63 of Holton, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Mercy Health Partners, Hackley Campus in Muskegon following a short illness. Bud was born on April 20, 1947 in Friendship, Wisconsin to Russell W. and Tillie (Richtmyer) Skilling and grew up in the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin area and moved to the Holton area in 1984. Bud married Patti Trygstad on November 7, 1981 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Bud had been a truck driver for Michigan Produce Haulers in Fremont for 17 years until his retirement in July 2010. Bud was a member of the Holton Evangelical Lutheran Church. Bud had also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad, Anderson Post #397. Bud enjoyed raising and riding quarter horses and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews who were all his favorite Bud is survived by his wife, Patti of Holton; his sons, Scott Skilling of Ravenna; Matt Skilling of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Doug (Harriett) Skilling of Belvidere, Illinois; Jeannette (Tom) Yanke of Colorado; Barb (Ron) Johnson of Belvidere, Illinois; Butch (Sue) Skilling of Delavan, Wisconsin; Charlie (Deb) Skilling of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Kathy (Rick) Nagel of Janesville, Wisconsin; his father-in-law, Ed Trygstad of Holton; many nieces and nephews. VISITATION : Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 1pm at the Holton Evangelical Lutheran Church. INTERMENT : Holton Lutheran Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Russell Bud Skilling Benefit, C/O Chemical Bank.
